History
BSF Consulting Engineers Limited was originally formed as a small
Practice in Canterbury in 1976. The Practice was first known as
Stocker Fitzpatrick Associates. In 1987 the Practice expanded
to encompass a greater diversity of services, including Civil
Engineering and Planning Consultancy and was renamed Bureau Stocker
Fitzpatrick. During 1996, BSF Consulting Engineers Limited was
formed and the Practice relocated to their current offices in
Westgate House, Canterbury.
From the relatively humble beginnings the Practice has continued
to grow in both size and in the range of services offered. The
Practice now comprises a total workforce of twenty, including
seventeen technical staff.
The range of services not only includes civil, structural and
building engineering consultancy, but also, through its sister
company, BSF Timber Engineering Limited, offers timber frame building
design and detailing.
The Practice is a founder member of the Atom Group providing
increased resources, additional specialisms and national coverage.
The Practice
The Directors and senior staff are all Chartered Engineers committed
to providing a quality service. Fully qualified and experienced
within our respective specialisations, we provide an individual
and professional service, dealing with our Clients on a personal
basis.
We offer a flexible approach to design with a 'lightness of touch',
designing the engineering out of a structure to produce an economic
and practical solution. We look for simple buildable solutions
rather than opting for what might be the most obvious but not
necessarily the best.
Our services are tailored to our Clients specific requirements
and we undertake commissions of all sizes and complexity. The
Practice will undertake responsibility for every phase of project
development, from feasibility studies and estimates, through to
outline and detail design, the preparation of working drawings
and tender documents, evaluation of tenders, supervision of construction
and authorisation of payment, to final completion and cost assessment.
Following the introduction of the Construction (Design and Management)
Regulations in March 1995, the Practice have expanded their list
of services offered to Clients to include the provision of the
role of Planning Supervisor as required under the new Regulations.
The Practice is equipped with the latest computer aided design,
analysis and drafting technology, which we combine with traditional
drawing office skills.
